Quicksand (流沙)

爱情就如流沙
巧匠耗尽终生
密密编织情网
网密时沙粉碎
留不住的光阴
抓不住的爱情

love is like quicksand
you spend your whole life
try to make the sieve finer
the finer it gets
still, finer is the sand
you can never salvage time
just as
you will never seize love

    1. Yes, Chinese characters are blocks. Mandarin and Cantonese are dialects to the Chinese people. The writing of characters are mostly the same. There are simplified and traditional Chinese characters.

      1. I was actually referring to the overall structure, besides the characters. It’s a perfect 6×6 block, which is mathematically awesome! 😄

I am a bit paranoid now about referring to ‘Chinese’ language because of all the times it was pointed out ‘Ahhh well there’s not really any one ‘Chinese’ language, but Mandarin and Cantonese are the main ones’, and similarly with ‘Indian’ language.

I think in some instances that’s just unnecessary nit-picking and non-Chinese people trying to look clever lol, because yes, what I was pointing out was general to Chinese languages.

      2. I was puzzled when I realised linguistically Mandarin and Cantonese are 2 different languages. It was similar to referring English as British English, American English, Australian English, Irish English, Scottish English, to me that was how it equates. 😁

  1. I worry this is true. We can find love but never the way that we imagine love to be. It is something much different than the ideal we always strive to reach. Great work!
