Phase of Life

The realisation that I am getting old and tired comes from the cynicism. Many things once were adventurous and exciting, now are like chores.

Taking a walk in the light rain is overrated. Nursing a cold afterwards kills all romantic notion.

Love making on the beach is overrated. Dealing with cleaning the collected sand is a chore of the century.

Staying up to watch the midnight firework at a vantage point is overrated. Fighting a spot to lay on a picnic rug to wait for hours to watch the fireworks is time consuming and value inapt.

Real comfort now comes from resting a cuppa on my gut and watching true crimes in my pajamas.

  1. I just love this piece. Sounds like me. My husband and I still dance without music in the kitchen on occasion and we can have a lot of fun doing things together out of town too. I am not sure what happens, perhaps we don’t have anything to prove anymore. We enjoy watching deer in the back yard, sipping on coffee or tea with a yummy treat and watching a great netflix series on television. I always dress up when I go out a little bit but that is just me, but when I am home and not going anywhere, I like loose clothing, nothing restricting in the waist it just is not comfy. We enjoy sitting on the couch holding hands and sharing a relaxing evening. I think it is called settling in, getting cozy and enjoy your time with your partner or by yourself doing what makes you happy. Thanks for writing this piece, it is good to know I am not the only one. Yea!!!!! Big hugs, Joni
