Happy New Year
Celebrating
New Year
Family reunion time
Coming from all sides
Four oceans and seven continents
With abundant gifts, goods and supplies
Five generations gather in one ancestral hall
Peonies and crested cock’s combs compete for beauty
Silver willow, gladiolus and chrysanthemum bundled in perfect bouquets
Firecrakers paper roll a red carpet through the village entrance
Children’s laughter heralds happiness in the coming year of the rabbit
Notes: This poem is written in incremental characters/words each line. The chinese characters illustrate a better shape due to the square form of each character.
Happy New Year!

The format is amazing, especially the way the Chinese characters stack so perfectly. Here’s wishing you a happy new year! May it be safe and prosperous! 🙂

Thank you Mike! If I were in China, this is a beginning of the 15 days celebration. But I will settle for 3 days here. 😸

How beautiful dear Cassa. I love how you describe the gifts so beautifully.

What a hall full of family and what a blessing if this is based on truth. To have so many generations of ancestors gathering how amazing. Lovely writing my friend. Blessings 🌹🦋

That’s the memory I have of my childhood when in New Year’s eve, family members returned to the village to celebrate Chinese New Year (the Spring Festival). I remember one of the elders with no teeth and her smile was blooming because all the children and their family all returned home, all 5 generations.
