This is written based on Living Poetry prompt – Containers
They are fishmen of a busy port
Generations of wealth
decorates their family
ties with the mafia through marriages
Monopoly of the fishing boats
the wholesale market
and the local businesses
They are in every corner
of this fishing town
Containers of seafoods
mixing with
containers of children,
firearms and drugs
Their family legacy
in this town
is built on
the historical corruption
and lawlessness

powerfully written and sad but so true Cassa❣️

I appreciate how you write about topics that are less frequently written about. I’ve had similar thoughts while reading your collection. 🖤

Well written. So sad what’s become of the industry.

The surface of things never fully shows us the underbelly of things. This is a seamless description of the dichotomy of life. The good/the bad – both existing, side-by-side – always. Well-written, Carrie.
