I knew
we ended
from the hug
we had
at the same cafe
our smiles met
and our legs
flirted
I realised
what we had
was pure lust
and transactions
I touched up
my lipstick
and went out
to hunt again
But this time
he’ll be the one
that’s taking care of
the bills
Role Reverse

I really like the way in which you have captured the transitory nature of relationships – and ‘pure lust
and transactions’ is a great phrase.

Thanks for the feedback Chris. I am glad that the meaning of the poem came across clear to the reader. (Cos at times, I wrote stuff that too ambiguous😀).

Ambiguous is good (though I’m glad that I read this as you had intended it to be interpreted).
