To dye or not to dye my grey hair
that is the question
Should I pretend it is just
a dandelion landing on my hair
a snowflakes resting before melting
a whisper haunting me about youth no more
To care or not to care about my appearance
that is the question
Should I proudly parade
my crown of glory
a godly life inclined
but a constant battle
to shut off
the angel of light
To be or not to be myself
that is the question
Should I not be satisfied with
ageing gracefully
over the need to be the queen bee
To dye or not to dye my grey hair
that is the question
which has nothing to do with beauty
It has everything to do with
where my identity lies
Grey is wisdom, with which you are adorned,
thoughtful, mysterious, not one to scorn.
You sang at the Puke, hair raven black,
Stood up to the drunkards, no turning back.
A bastion of strength in a faltering land,
Embrace the wisdom with outstretched hand.

You look lovely as you are, but yes I know it’s about much more. I finally chose to let the colors go and now I am happy to leave it alone. It’s such a decision, though. The good news is that you can change it whenever you choose.

The maintenance of it and the cost associate with hair colouring is to much sometimes

I am wondering, too lol. I gained a lot more grey hairs in the last 2 years. I’m just hoping it slows down now π. But I probably can’t see most of them, so it’s easy to ignore it :D. If your hair is longer I guess it’s harder to ignore!
I have plans on dying my hair crazy colours when I can afford such luxuries again! I’ve never dyed my hair, but it’s something I want to experience at least once.
I think at the end of the day the most important thing is to not spend too long worrying about it either way. Having the choice is great and another form of creative expression if you have it (just like the clothes you wear), but if you don’t have the choice, then you find your way to acceptance of that situation.
There’s no difference between dying your hair, clothes choice, makeup, tattoos etc really! So I don’t think it’s unnecessary vanity. Boob job would be unnecessary and irreversible vanity lol. Decoration vs. permanent change is probably where the only real line should be drawn.

Haha, thanks! I kind of came up with my own philosophy as I wrote that :), so it was quite interesting.

Don’t dye it would be my opinion if you are asking.
