Shower

The Six Sentence Story prompt – Shower

I have found the irony of life is that no matter how prepared you are, you still fall short of certain expectations. The typical example I can give you is that I almost always without covering when heaven decides to surprise me with a shower of rain, snow or hail.

They say ‘fail to plan is plan to fail’. Well, I know and believe me, I have been trying and doing my best to prepare for the unexpected. But I seem to manage to fall through the cracks or be an outlier which often discarded.

Thankfully there is always another side of the coin where I have been showered with random kindness and gracious love.

Out in The Numbness

The rain says so many forbidden words
synchronising with every bit of fear
that she is unable to express
The infrequent sound falls on
a shaky ground built on anxious thoughts
trying to keep up with the rhythm
like catching reality in a chaotic mind
She wonders why the winter rain feels so dry

Split Existence

I wrote bit by bit
made up a glimpse of me
in the reflection of someone
on a glassy lake
a smudge of ripple
stole the peace
and I was undisturbed
untouched
understatedly
unnoticed
by despondency
disassociation
disappearance

We Share the Moon

This poem was originally posted on 17 March this year. I wrote this poem as a dedication to my fellow blogger and dear friend Robbie (ArchangelWhiteWolf). Some of you may also have been following Robbie’s blog and know that Robbie decided to close his blog. I feel it is fitting for me to post this poem again to remember Robbie.

When I sit alone
under the pastel moonlight
I imagine you sitting in solitude
sighing into the cosmic night sky

How many battles have you fought
How many dreams have passed you by

I stretch out my arms
in rolled up sleeves
trying to catch as many wishes
you shout to the universe
as my heart is able to contain
turn them into prayers
lighting up the dying dreams
of a warrior

Silent Scream

The noises in her head go on without ceasing for years.

“My parents said you are too bright and you won’t hang around.”

“Do you want to marry me? Once we are married, I am eligible for an apartment allocation from my company.”

“When you were so far away, I was so lonely. She was just there for me and I couldn’t resist.”

“Maybe we will consider each other if neither of us is married by 30.”

“Everybody pisses me off including you.”

“You built the wall so tall. You are impossible to love.”

“She emotionally abused me. I don’t feel safe around her.” He said that to the marriage counsellor.

“Stop! You liar, cheater, coward, abuser. All of you, shut the fuck up!” She curls up to a ball and screams in silence.

Sleep Talking

There are so many chaotic thoughts
running through his mind
Silence is the lid to keep them sealed
In sleep, they are no longer contained
breaking out in groans and sobs

Ghost Travel

He left the city
He left her
He left himself with her in that city

since then

He travelled the world
He travelled with her
He travelled in an empty shell with the memory of her
