Light in Abundance

In the spirit of Easter, I decide to write a post about the good things in life. Where there is darkness, there is the polar opposite light.

I am in awe of who God is. He is my heavenly Father, mighty and faithful. He gave me Jesus whom is my saviour and best friend. There is no better consellor and comforter than the Holy Spirit.

I have a family by blood not by choice. They are a living proof of forgiveness, patience and harmony.

Failed past relationships showed me who I am. These many cracked mirrors taught me the imperfection of my own reflection. And yet light still shines on me throught the shards of glass.

For the love ones who are no longer here, although I cannot argue with silence and reason with absence, I have abundance of memories to celebrate and have a jolly good laugh at.

For every living being surrounding me everyday, you are a light filled kaleidoscope. I am simply amazed by you and grateful for your light.

2020 Review

2020 was a year that seemed to have more than usual stuff to grumble about. But would I give in to it and drown myself in complaints? I really rathered not. If I went down and was under, I had no capacity to share light with my fellow humans. I chose to give thanks and stayed afloat.

Friendship comes and goes. I think writer-reader relationship is similar. It’s better to celebrate the journey we shared than be sad about the departure.

My special thanks go to the following fellow bloggers who have been bringing joy and love to my creative world:

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Cassa Bassa

Hi to the followers and occasionally stop-by readers!

When I don’t follow your blog, it may not be a reflection of me didn’t enjoy reading your work or your work is not valuable to me.

Reasons of me not following your blogs include but not limited to:
I am unable to commit myself to read your every post. I am a quality over quantity person.
I am struggling to read long writing pieces due to short attention span.
Your blog does not fall into my reading interest areas.

I am not offended if you do not follow me, or follow me then unfollow me. To me, writer-reader relationship is like any other relationships, not every one is meant to last. I value the time when we share one.

Thank you wholeheartedly for following me or stopping by. Thank you for your encouraging comments or asking for clarification at times.

You are the rain for my poetry garden!

With love and respect,

Cassa Bassa

Blessing

she showed me the scars
they are drag marks
skin cuts
bullet dents

she showed me all these
with a smile and misty eyes

she told me the blackouts were blessings
memory of her husband taken but not beaten or killed
she told me their six children are blessings
she is wearing the victor’s crown

she is the aunty in her community
children grew up in her street are sweethearts
women with all colours are her sisters
she is the glue bonding broken families together
breathing in new life with her gratefulness

she did not tell people she is a saint
she breaths, lives and acts holy
she is a saint

we put our arms side by side
sesame and banana
we hugged and cried in joy
God made our paths cross
to share worship, praise and
thanksgiving

Thank God You Are Alive

I don’t know
how do people live with
not knowing
if their love one
is alive or dead

I can only imagine
they are like a blowfish
keeps every possibility inside

I have been like that
for the last few days
until today
I come to know that
you are alive

This news is like
a gentle hand
gives me permission
to cry

I can only imagine
the other news
would be like a knife
stabs and twists
all the possibilities
to bleed out

Smile

bitter sweet of life
the moment is fleeting
let’s smile

a smile predicts
the next moment
to be honeydew
a smile welcomes
the next chapter
to be hope-filled
a smile lifts
the heavy spirit
to be victorious

sorrow interweaves with joy
it is meaningless
to be sober minded
it is all just vanity
let’s smile

a smile gives us reasons
to live on
a smile humbles us
to know our maker
a smile sates us
with a grateful heart
